What got you into racing?
My dad took me to our local karting track at age of 9 where, if you got your lap time down to 35 secs, you could enter a little Sunday morning academy. I loved it and the next step was some club go-kart racing and one thing led to another.
What is the your goal for the next 2 years?
My goals In the next two years are to achieve a top 10 finish this year in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, the pinnacle of global single-make racing, and then have an all out assault on the Supercup title next year.
What is your favourite race track to race on?
There are many really cool European circuits but I guess I have to single of the street circuit at Monaco. It’s an absolute thrill to be part of the most famous race circuit in the world with all its history and nostalgia. There are no margins for error, as you ride and exit kerbs, you're skimming walls. It’s utterly unforgiving! We only do a 30 minute race, but imagine the concentration required over 2 hours in the large and faster F1 car!?
How is simulation helping your training?
Simulation is critical to my training schedule. It enables me to practice and prepare for any type of race without the expense of being on circuit. 90% of this race preparation can be achieved on the simulator so that you can maximise the circuit testing opportunities. I use the simulator to do specific drills that cover all race eventualities in wet and dry conditions that include qualification runs, race simulation and various scenarios e.g. safety car, leading, defending.
